BIA Cordon Bleu 12-Inch TV Dinner Trays, Set of 2, White Review

I bought two sets of these at once. They arrived in good shipping boxes in excellent condition. I can see how other people might have had them break in transit. They are heavy, and the tendency for heavy objects to get rougher treatment by shipping companies can't be ignored.

The blue, green and white TV graphic you see on the picture is not baked onto the dish. It's a sticker that you have to scrub off in hot soapy water. Then the tray looks as it does : all white, shiny enameled on top.

All four of them microwave very good. They do not appear to absorb much if any microwave energy. They have gone through the dishwasher a few times already with no problems. They stack. They don't chip easily.

I would buy more of these.

They still perform as I mentioned. Not one chip on them with regular usage. No stains. We must have nuked these guys hundreds of times by now. They have been through the dishwasher hundereds of times too...no impact. They changed the picture since I bought mine, now they look like they do without the sticker :-) I guess they realized it was not just redundent but a negative.

However, it is recommended that certain steps be taken to ensure the longest possible life of your flatware. Avoid steel wool or metal scrapers when hand-washing and abrasive cleaners when dishwashing to avoid corrosion. Fortessa Bistro 18/10 Stainless Steel Flatware Set, Service for 1, 5-Piece Review

I'm going to risk the unhelpful votes and go against the rest of the reviewers on this item. While I agree that the design is extremely nice, the flatware manages to look both classic and contemporary at the same time, it's also nicely polished and very heavy, I still don't like this set.

Our everyday set is by Reed & Barton, also sold here on amazon but is priced far lower then this (less then $100 for service for 8). Honestly the weight is about the same, the Fortessa is a bit heavier but if anything it feels almost like a chore to lift the pieces with the additional weight. The edges on the Fortessa aren't consistently smooth, if you run your finger along the edge of the spoon for instance it feels uneven and rough. The final deal breaker for me is really my own fault for not looking closer at the photos, what they are actually considering a plus "makers mark on every item-craftsman symbol of quality" I can't stand. There is a engraved mark on the front of the pieces which no matter how many times I use them I always glance at and initially think there is some sort of dry food stuck to the piece and it drives me nuts.

If you can get past that symbol and are looking for very heavy flatware at a premium price it might be perfect for you, I'll stick with my other set personally :)

Wilton Armetale Queen Anne Charger, Round, 12-Inch Review

These are absolutely the perfect size & shape to use with my Gien plates. The "Queen Anne" is a classic, timeless design that is at home with both Early American tableware and French tableware. They also look great with Italian pewter flatware.

Here are a few of the French patterns that are perfect with these chargers: Filets Bleus, Filets Taupes, & Oiseaux de Paradis by Gien; Tulipe by Longchamp; many pieces by H.B. Henriot Quimper & F.A.B. Quimper.

BTW, I purchased these to replace the large QA chargers I bought and had to return. They were very deep -- more like a pasta dish than a charger (which is usually rather flat). The small QA chargers aren't very flat either, but they are a good fit for most dinner plates.
