WMF Taika Espresso Spoons, Set of 8 Review

Very sleek and beautiful design. I was happy with them. I have to say though that they are tiny, even considering that they're demitasse spoons. They're even smaller than the Henckels espresso spoon set that I own. May be awkward to use these for those who are clumsy or arthritic.

Update: 2 years later and I still love these spoons. I did find the perfect use for them, given their tiny size (they're almost too tiny to even use to spoon little hors d'oeurvres or dips). I use them when I make wasabi sauce and put them at the place settings when serving sushi. It's perfect since people generally use just a tiny bit of wasabi. They go through the dishwasher just fine, but be careful how you load them as they can slip through the utensil basket.

Introduction

All items in the Le Creuset stoneware range are original designs and have been hand-crafted, making each piece unique. Due to this uniqueness, there may be slight variations from piece to piece.

Le Creuset Stoneware is safe for use in the microwave, freezer, refrigerator, dishwasher, oven and broiler. The maximum oven-safe temperature is 500 degrees F / 260 degrees C.

The enameled surface is easy to clean and scratch-resistant. The enamel is completely hygienic and will not absorb odors or flavors. Le Creuset Stoneware is extremely strong and durable, and resists staining, chipping and cracking. The handles, knobs and rims have been designed for a secure, easy-to-hold grip.

Cleaning and Care

DO NOT use any Stoneware piece on the stovetop or any other direct heat source.

OVEN: Maximum oven-safe temperature is 500 degrees F / 260 degrees C. Use oven mitts for lifting at all times.

BROILER: When using under a broiler allow a gap of no less than 2 1/2 inches between the rim of the dish and the heat source.

MICROWAVE: Handles may become hot during prolonged microwave use, especially if the handles are enclosed with plastic wrap. Cover just the open top of the dish, leaving the handles exposed.

FREEZER-TO-OVEN USE: Do not place a frozen dish of food in a preheated oven. Place the frozen dish in a cold oven and set the temperature, allowing the dish and oven to heat together. Before serving always check that the center of the food is completely and uniformly hot.

CLEANING: Before the first use, wash the dish in hot, soapy water, and rinse and dry thoroughly. For most day-to-day cleaning, cool the dish for a few minutes before washing and drying, or wash in the dishwasher, allowing the full cycle to complete. Never leave a dish fully immersed in water. For removal of stubborn residues allow the dish to cool, fill with warm, soapy water and allow it to soak for 10 to 20 minutes. Wash in the usual way using a plastic brush or scouring pad if necessary.

Le Creuset Stoneware 10-Inch Salad Plate, Cassis Review

I will come back and update this review after I've had more time with this plate and can see how it holds up. For now, I can say that it is a beautiful plate, large, heavy, with a recessed center area and nice, wide rim. So why 3 stars (for now)? Well, mine arrived with scratches in the finish on the interior portion right where it curves up into the rim. You can feel them with your finger, so definitely mars in the finish. They are small and only in one area, so I am not going to go through all the bother of returning the plate...but at these prices I expect a perfect plate without any dings in the finish. I should note these are made in China, so possibly the scratches occurred during shipping.

I will come back and update after I have more time using this. [Update: Plate has held up well so far and is great in daily use. Not just for salads, but many other things as well. Would give it 4-5 stars if mine had arrived without dings.) The plate is very nice overall. I also purchased a large bowl and a pasta plate and both of those are very nice as well. The pasta plate had a few bubbles in the finish, but nothing dreadful. Still, at these prices, I expected perfect finishes.

Nice Design, clean lines. It makes a nice addition to my bedside.
The only downside I have come across is it is kind of slick if it gets wet. i.e...if you spill some water down the sides after filling it it is easy to drop. Which I did in the 2nd week of owning it :(((. I only broke the glass. But an Old Fashioned glass works just as well in it's place.

Fiesta 15-Inch Pizza Tray, Scarlet Review

This is a big platter. A full 15 inches in diameter. Perfect for making a pizza with room to spare. It is a lovely scarlet red and quite heavy. When I have cooked a pizza on this with a premade crust it came out evenly done from edge to center and it did not stick to the platter even without cooking spray. Love that. When I bake at high temp around 475 degrees the platter looks a bit darker coming out of the oven. I was worried the first time I saw this thinking the color was somehow messed up by the heating. But once it begins to cool it will go back to the blazing scarlet color again. Cleanup was a breeze too. But it is big, think about where you will store this before purchasing.
