We bought these to add to the mixed Blue Willow sets we've had for years, which include antique and Churchill pieces, and these are a pretty close match (no two Blue Willow sets will ever be exactly the same). They are close enough so that they are not obviously different and since the President of the United States probably won't be coming to lunch any time soon, they are just fine for us. If you need an *exact* match for Johnson, Spode, or Churchill Blue Willow, you'd be better off buying Johnson, Spode, or Churchill replacements.

The blue color is strong and the porcelain itself the proper white - not way off-white like some cheap versions. The bowls are the right 16-ounce size and the shape is very good - the sides of the bowls are not shallow so that they are fine for cereal or desserts. They are also pretty rugged so even though hand washing is recommended, they'll survive a dish washer.

I got this because I thought it would be a beautiful piece to use as well as display. Based on research of Iwachu Tetsubin I thought these were functional iron pots. While it is really a beautiful teapot it does not retain heat as well as I would expect from an iron pot, even when I preheat the pot by adding boiling water for 5 minutes. Also, I follow the directions exactly and only rinse the pot and pat dry but if you rub to hard with a dry cloth some of the paint comes off making me wonder if over time it will last. It does brew a good cup of tea because the filter is totally immersed in the water. Also, the Amazon price is pretty good considering most tea shops and outlets charge over $100 for these. I like it but not sure I will use it everyday.
