Set of two large individual size Dolsot Bowls by Spiceberry Home - Granite Stone Bowl used for Korean Cooking and Recipes especially Rice Bibimbap. Dolsot Bibimbap (dolsot meaning "stone pot"), is served in a very hot stone bowl in which a raw egg is cooked against the sides of the bowl. The bowl is so hot that anything that touches it sizzles for minutes. Before the rice is placed in the bowl, the bottom of the bowl is coated with sesame oil, making the layer of the rice touching the bowl golden brown and crisp. These bowls includes a rustic wood base so that the hot bowl can be placed on the table. These are individual size bowls, about 4 pounds each, 7-1/4 Inches across on top (18cm). Important Note: Keep in mind that these are made of natural stone. The stone pattern may vary from the photo. Directions for use come on a simple sheet of paper with the bowl, and the directions work great. You can just heat 'em up right on the stove, then fill 'em with cooked rice, veggies, etc. The rice starts popping, and you're good to go. It's not so much for cooking as for holding your meal and keeping it hot. Seriously effective: I could burn my tongue on the last scoop of food out of these babies. They darken up quickly and look very classy. We bought a pair a couple months back and just love 'em. Yes, we still go to the Korean restaurant that inspired us to get 'em, but we also now cook Dolsot at home. They'd work just as well for other dishes. My personal tip when using them for Asian food: Don't skimp on the sesame oil. Yum.
