Self-stirring Original Coffee Mug, Brown Review

I was one of the original supporters of this product when it was on Kickstarter. I was a little disappointed when it was not funded. But luckily the creator has decided to still pursue this idea and put it up for sale on Amazon.

I just got my mugs yesterday and am drinking some tea with them now. It is working really well. Give it a few spins and your tea is well mixed up. The mugs look nice and are really indistinguishable from normal mugs when they are full. They are a great story and conversation starter because they will draw some interesting looks when you give your mug a few twists. I am sure the glass ones will be great for cocktails so that the liquor does not separate while you are consuming the beverage.

My minor complaints about the product and why I took away one star was because of a couple factors. Most importantly for me is that because of the fins in the mug, they take up some space. Because of this a standard mug is turned into a smaller 10oz mug. This is fine if you like your small drinks. I prefer large cups of tea so I would have really loved to see a true 16oz mug option. The second issue is that it takes a few more spins of the cup than I had anticipated. In the videos online it looks like with just two spins you can get a well mixed drink. For me it takes about 5 or so spins. This is partly due to the fact that I do not want to spill hot liquid if I spin it quickly.

I am very happy with my purchase. This is a cool product and I will surely get the glass cocktail glasses when they come out.

These are all really stunning bowls!

I originally saw the Le Souk honey dishes on Neiman Marcus' site, but then found them here on Amazon for a much better price. My parents bought a full set of the Le Souk honey dishes around Thanksgiving to replace their everyday dishes and they couldn't be happier. Now I'm going to get a set for myself because they're just too beautiful.
There's a certain amount of variability because they are hand-painted, but I really think that just adds to their charm. We had checked with the company which imports the dishes, based out of Seattle, about the products used (e.g. paint, glaze) to make sure there's no lead or anything else; they were extremely helpful and sent a detailed account of everything we needed to know. Of course they're also dishwasher and microwave safe.
A number of the dishes did arrive broken, and a couple were of the wrong design, but we just let Amazon know, and the dishes were replaced almost instantaneously. Having had some experience ordering dishes and similar items online I know that they very often do get damaged in shipping, so this wasn't a surprise. The company rectified the situation immediately, so it was really fine.
Another thing we've liked about these dishes is that they retain heat quite impressively. It's not so much that food actually continues to cook in the dish (unless it's something veery delicate), but if you warm something up in the microwave it's going to stay warm longer. We also like to warm up dinner plates in the oven before meals sometimes, or just heat a serving platter with hot water before using it. It's a very nice quality we hadn't expected.
The last thing was that my mother was concerned that getting a whole dining set of these all in the honey design would be too 'busy' because she tends to like simpler things. But when they arrived she completely changed her mind. We've had compliments from everyone who has come to the house. We're very very happy with these dishes.

Ceramic Coffee Cup in Color Box Review

I ordered this one for two reasons. The double-walled design promised good insulation and manageable temperatures on the outside. That's fine and works as advertised. However, the cup is not 12 oz but 10. This is a big deal given that so many of these cups are so small. I'm not one for huge cups of coffee, but to ensure limited spilling, a 12-14 oz cup size really is ideal. The bottom line though is that wrong information listed on something you can't easily return - the box it comes in says 10 oz - is just not acceptable.

This is a very elegant, simple and clean cake stand. Just what I was looking for to hold a 3 tiered 12" base cake. While the ratings on this product were high, I did have some concern about the pictures of the chipped and broken stand without any negative ratings. I went ahead and ordered hoping that this was a rare instance. Unfortunately as soon as we opened the box, we gasped in horror seeing the stand broke in three places. Not only was the base broken off -seemed like the glue did not hold--but also the plate itself snapped in half. Not only was the product far from being sturdy to stay glued onto its base, but the packaging of the product itself was unacceptable. This was the first product that I had to return that was completely defective and unusable in my years and years of ordering through Amazon. I hope this is the last time I'll ever have to do that. I don't think I'll ignore pictures like that again. Next time, I'll purchase fragile items in a brick and mortar.
